News first broke last week that MTV, a formal announcement, pulled its wrestling series "Wrestling Society X." Show producer Big Vision Entertainment later softened the blow with an optimistic outlook on the show's future on the network, despite still confirming that it was, at least for the time being, indeed pulled from MTV's lineup. But, things apparently changed drastically in the last few days, as Wrestling Society X is set to return—for at least a one-time airing—next Tuesday.
While networks often burn off remaining episodes of a series pulled from the lineup (since they did pay for the broadcast), it is unusual to witness a network running the episodes in the original timeslot. After all, one of the most basic reasons for cancelling a television series (or putting it on an indefinite hiatus) is a belief that the departing show's timeslot could be better monetized with another program.Neither MTV nor the WSX producers have commented on the rumored return to the schedule.
Update: a timeslot has not yet been determined, so it's possible the show will air in another slot next Tuesday.
